Vote Now for "Best Dad on Wheels"--Top Ten Finalists Competing for Title on ChristopherReeve.org

The Christopher & Dana Reeve Foundation has announced the top ten finalists of their summer-long search for the 2010 Best Dad on Wheels.

The online contest began in June with individuals nominating a biological, adoptive, or foster father living with paralysis that has proven being a great dad is more about heart, and not about how you get around.

All the nominations were compassionate and spirited, making the decision extremely difficult to narrow down to just ten. The finalists were selected by a panel of judges based on a 200-word essay and photo submitted at ChristopherReeve.org.

Eight-year-old Jack Gulick writes, "My dad is fun. He plays the Wii with me, and we play computer games together. He gives me advice about playing baseball because he used to play when he was little. He was catcher, so I think I would be good at that too. My dad comes to all my games and even helps coach. He takes care of me when I'm sick and knows how to help me if I'm scared. My favorite thing about my dad is that he's still alive after his accident. "

Currently, the top ten finalists, their stories and photos are featured on the Reeve Foundation website, ChristopherReeve.org. From now through September 24, 2010 the public can vote on which dad they believe demonstrates dedicated and supportive women's jackets qualities. The winner will be announced around the date of what would have been Christopher Reeve's 58th birthday (September 25).

In Nothing Is Impossible, Christopher Reeve wrote, "I became acutely aware that virtually everything that parents say and do has a powerful effect on our children."

The winning dad will also receive a $500 gift card from vineyard vines.

Go to http://www.ChristopherReeve.org/bestdad to read the entries for the finalists and then vote.

Onlineshoes.com and Clarks Get Moving to Refresh Feet

Clarks and Onlineshoes.com are teaming up to spread the word about Clarks' latest comfort innovations by giving away two pairs of free Clarks shoes so customers can experience how comfortable they are for themselves. (Read on to find out more about Clarks shoes and how to enter the contest at the Onlineshoes.com blog between Tuesday, November 2 and Monday, November 8, 2010.)

A pioneer in the concept of comfort footwear that dates back to 1825, Clarks is now further improving on comfort technology by delivering two breakthrough technologies throughout their Clarks men's shoes and Clarks shoes for women: Clarks Wave and Clarks Unstructured. It's comfort designed for people on the go, whether looking for the perfect walking shoe or just a casual style that can keep up with any long day.

Clarks Wave technology was created to enhance the natural walking motion by creating a uniquely curved sole to propel the foot forward with every step. It starts with a heel kicker that begins a smooth forward motion. From there, a concave heel absorbs shock to put less stress on joints while the rocker sole rocks forward to conserve energy and reduce fatigue. Finally, the toe-off in front guides the foot for effortless walking.

This revolutionary technology can be found in shoes such as the new Clarks Wave.tread sneaker , part of the men's Wave collection, featuring an incredibly flexible sole to deliver comfort in a purely relaxed style. But don't forget the women. The Clarks Wave.crest , from the women's Wave collection, delivers casual style in a convenient slip-on to keep her moving throughout the day.

But for comfort focused from the inside out, the Clarks Unstructured collection is the way to go. In addition to a flexible sole, the unstructured line features an amazing Air Circulation System?. This climate control technology allows warm, moist air inside the shoe to escape and replace it with ambient outside air. The result is a cool, fresh and comfortable all-day feeling for feet.

This technology provides a comfort that can be felt throughout the Clarks Un.sheridan slip-on, part of the men's Unstructured collection, that blends the Air Circulation System? together with classic styling for cool comfort while on the job. Or even through the Clarks Un.believable slip-on from the women's Unstructured collection, delivering casual comfort for her entire weekend.

"Clarks have consistently been one of the most comfortable brands we carry, from their iconic Clarks Originals to the lates women's coats t Clarks boots for fall. Since we've started carrying the Unstructured and Wave collection, I'm pretty sure they just shot to the top of that comfort list," said Onlineshoes.com senior buyer Michelle Juno.

Later, the icon was popularized by its placement on hippie clothing and novelties in the 1970s, the post states. The women's jackets post also mentions that the smiley face icon can now be found on the internet and in emails.

It also comments on how sales of this product by women, specifically housewives, empowered post World War II generations of women by providing a source of income. Artist, Marian Medd, having worked in the retail industry for many years, combines her knowledge and her natural talent in drawing in this one-of-a-kind book. Preserving the memories of several undergarments that may have been forgotten and lost in time, this selection brings to life the various styles of the past, which were greatly affected by economic, political and social considerations.

From defining the early decades of the 20th century, to the first decade of the 21st, A Peep Into the Past reveals a comprehensive background on how women have been adjusting to the constantly changing trends of their times, especially in clothing. This change gave women more freedom to move around, whilst replacing men in the workforce.

Accentuated by colorful and beautifully drawn illustrations, this book is a rich arsenal of knowledge, allowing readers to appreciate the benefits sought from their modern world. At the same time, it shows the message of how today's society provides more options to wom Tips: Find Street Fashion Online(may be you can find what you want on the oasap.com) en than to the restrictive cultures, traditions and circumstances of the past.

This took her into the world of painting with acrylics. She also attended many classes over several years studying and drawing. She has not had a solo exhibition, but over the past decade, she entered works into Local Council exhibitions and also the "Cossack" exhibition conducted annually in the North West of Western Australia. She has sold several paintings which are in private collections. For the past two years, she has been working on this book A Peep into the Past, which portrays a history of garments in unique colours and in style.

Think You’ve Missed Out on Hurricane Irene FEMA Contracts? Think Again!

Contractors are still needed to assist disaster relief efforts in areas impacted by Hurricane Irene last August, according to data reported on the Federal Procurement Data System. US Federal Contractor Registration is urging small businesses along the East Coast to get registered immediately in order to take advantage of the opportunities still available while helping bring relief to the families and communities still struggling to recover from the historic storm.

On August 21st, 2011, Hurricane Irene formed in the Atlantic, making landfall over the Eastern North Carolina Outer Banks on August 27th, 2011, according to Wikipedia. The storm tore a path up the East Coast. Although it weakened into a tropical storm, Irene caused an estimated $7 billion in damages and left 56 deaths in its wake.

FEMA is still working to help impacted regions recover from Irene and is in need of qualified, registered businesses to assist them. Although emergency supplies and debris removal vendors are typically needed for disaster relief, other industries are also being tapped. A report issued by the Federal Procurement Data System shows Hurricane Irene FEMA contracts being recently awarded for office equipment, mobile home pad rentals, housekeeping, water utilities and communications support just to name a few. Other contracts awarded since the disaster include educational services, plumbing equipment rental, shipping services, clothing, architectural services and security system purchases. Many of the contracts have been awarded to small businesses, women owned businesses and service disabled veteran owned businesses.

In order to meet federal mandates requiring at least 23% of all contrac fashion jackets ting dollars be awarded to small businesses, more companies capable of handling these federal contracts must complete their CCR registration and ORCA filing immediately. Every year, the federal government falls short of its procurement goal. In 2009, only 22% of the $442 billion set aside for small businesses was awarded, according to US Federal Contractor Registration. "There are not enough qualified, properly registered businesses," said Dan Driscoll, treasurer at US Federal Contractor Registration. "If there were, the government wouldn't have a problem meeting that goal."

In order to qualify for FEMA contract awards, vendors must first complete the required registration. This begins with obtaining a DUNS number, followed by completing CCR registration and submitting their ORCA filing, then finally completing the FEMA Vendor Profile. Failure to complete registration accurately and in a timely manner can result in delayed payment or lost opportunities due to ineligibility for federal contracts.

To help small businesses qualify for Hurricane Irene FEMA contracts and other federal contracting opportunities, US Federal Contractor Registration offers a case manager to help vendors navigate the red tape and get their registration completed quickly. Their services cover every step of the registration process, as well as optional marketing services to help vendors build their brand with purchasing officers and find work in the federal market. Their Contractor Helpline can also assist interested business owners identify current opportunities and market trends before spending any time or money pursuing government contracts.

In addition, businesses who start working with a case manager to perform their registration or marketing by December 31st can write off the cost on their 2011 tax return as a business expense while making an investment in their company's future revenue.

Business owners can get immediate contracting help by calling the Contractor Helpline toll free at (877) 252-2700 ext 1. A Placement Specialist can then help them find current government contracting opportunities, purchasing trends for federal agencies and review their registration for errors that could impact their ability to win government contracts.

US Federal Contractor Registration is a third party registration firm that has helped thousands of businesses complete their CCR registration and bid on contracts. US Federal Contractor Registration pairs businesses with a dedicated case manager who helps them every step of the way from initial registration to bidding on contracts. San Francisco Valentine’s Day Pillow Fight and Party Jeans Giveaway Will Turn Lovers Into Prize Fighters

Love—and feathers—will be in the air this Valentine's Day when the flash-mob-style crowd that assembles every February 14 at Justin Herman Plaza in the Embarcadero starts swinging at exactly 6 o'clock. Grp.E is helping hardcore romantics wage war in style by giving 40% off jeans purchased online and at Bay Area stores now through February 15. The San Francisco party jeans company is also giving away jeans to a randomly selected man and woman who like Grp.E Jeans on Facebook.

Grp.E Jeans will photograph the Great San Francisco Pillow Fight crowd exchanging blows, hand out limited edition heart-shaped denim pendants that commemorate the occasion, and toss Grp.E t-shirts into the crowd. Although Grp.E isn't a sponsor, the Pillow Fight is just the kind of party that defines the Grp.E brand.

San Francisco fashion designer Tommy Pham created Grp.E premium jeans with an emphasis on fit, finish, functionality and details. A range of fits from skinny to relaxed ensure these designer jeans accentuate the best features of every body type.

"There are so many features men and women love about Grp.E jeans, but what really closes the deal is Pham's patented snap-button fly," said Mignon Gould, founder of popular fashion blog The Chic Spy. "Like Levi's original button fly, this unique snap-button fly is Grp.E's pièc women's jackets e de résistance."

Unlike the button fly, the "quicky" fly gets Grp.E jeans off fast. And unlike zippers, there is no risk of skin or fabric damage. No other denim brand in the world has a concave button. This ergonomic design allows fingers to fit right into the recess for a more natural and customized feel.

Grp.E jeans are sold at the following San Francisco Bay Area locations:

About Spacecat:
Spacecat was created in New York City in 2000, when Yumi Miyanishi made a claymation short film called "Katzilla"
"As a four year old, my favorite thing was making clothes for my Barbie doll." Always interested in fashion and being different, after Yumi started practicing Ashtanga Yoga, she noticed what women were wearing. Seeing the same yoga/athletic-wear everywhere, she thought there must be other women who would like to dress differently to practice yoga or to work out. Moving from Tokyo to New York to New Orleans and then to Miami Beach, the idea of her own line gradually took shape.
With the encouragement and help of many friends, she decided to use her background in fashion design and create yoga/athletic-wear that she would love to wear.
Spacecat Inc. was launched in June 2010 in Miami Beach, Florida.

Explore Tibet Issues Tibet Travel Advice

Preparing for international Tibet travel can be daunting task, but careful planning can eliminate risks and hassles. Explore Tibet, a Lhasa-based travel agency, has put together guidelines for packing and preparing for a Tibet tour. Here are a few things to remember:

  •     Pack light. Even for long trips it is essential to pack with a minimum of clothes and other supplies, because luggage will sometimes be carried by hand, possibly in steep or rugged terrain. One medium to large backpack or rolling duffel and a day pack should be enough for a 2-4 week trip. Explore Tibet suggests that travelers test the weight of their bags by packing them then carrying them several blocks. If they feel heavy it would be wise to remove non-essential items.
  •     Tibetans dress conservatively and visitors should do the same. For men and women shorts are inappropriate, and jeans or skirts are recommended instead.
  •     Travelers should be prepared to wash and rinse their own clothing. In the summer and spring the strong sunlight and arid environment dry clothes out quickly. Consider packing a portable clot women's coats online hesline.

Because of the high altitude, it's important to bring appropriate cold weather gear. Some areas of Tibet can get wet and muddy, so travelers should check with their agent about appropriate weather gear for their destination.
